Back to book 1?

So, if you haven't heard, the new Harry Potter book comes out in July, just under four months from now.

Word Nerd figures she'll reread some of the previous HP books to refresh her memory between now and then.

But this raises a bit of a dilemma. Does she reread just the last couple books? When book 6 came out, she reread books 4 and 5. When 5 came out, she reread 3 and 4.

On the other hand, this is the last book, the last new HP book. Does that merit rereading the entire series? And if so, isn't it about time to start into that venture? Those later HP books get long, even though they read fairly quickly.

Anybody else? What are your pre-HP book 7 rereading plans? Word Nerd needs some advice.

I was just going to reread book 6, but you raise a good point. I'm thinking rereading the entire series might be a good idea.

March 27th - April, May, June, - July 21st. That's about four months. There are 6 books already out.

Roughly speaking, 30 days in a month*4 months=120 days/6 books=20 days per book.

The 7th book is an "event" because it's the last one - and the series is so good. If I can make the time, I'll re-read them all. At the very least, you'll be "up on all the lingo," and remember all the character's names.

Go for it!

A good rereading should enhance the experience of reading the final book. If this truly is the final Harry Potter book, it might be worthwhile to enjoy it as completely as possible.

I'm re-reading the first six in book-on-CD format, which works great because I have a pretty solid commute five days a week.

This has been working pretty well for me, and I'm somewhere in the beginning of book 4.

I can't say that I would go back and reread all six books if this option weren't open to me, however. I have too much to read already.

Word Nerd has listened to some of the HP books on audio book in the past.

Jim Dale is such a good reader with all his different voices.

I'm going to disagree with other people here, only because I know what a long reading list you already maintain.

I'm going to suggest that you do some re-reading, but start no earlier than Book 4. Probably with Book 5.
